Switched Home Server to 2.6. Kernel

And finally I did it ;-). For a really long time I feared the day migrating my home server from 2.4 kernel to a recent 2.6 kernel. I didn't want to loose any functionality,
as it serves as our dsl-gateway
to the Internet (NAT), as our internal file server (both, nfs and samba), as
my subversion server, and (most important ;-) as vdr
hardware (dvb-s is
really great :-) with a serial port infrared
device. I already had a hard time installing lirc with a 2.6.7
kernel on another computer. At that time lirc didn't work properly with the 2.6 kernel
series. Following the gentoo migration guide, the vdr gentoo installation guide and working out some issues (google is your friend:), it took me just four hours ...
