as it serves as our dsl-gateway to the Internet (NAT), as our internal file server (both, nfs and samba), as my subversion server, and (most important ;-) as vdr hardware (dvb-s is really great :-) with a serial port infrared device.  I already had a hard time installing lirc with a 2.6.7 kernel on another computer. At that time lirc didn’t work properly with the 2.6 kernel series. Following the gentoo migration guide, the vdr gentoo installation guide and working out some issues (google is your friend:), it took me just four hours …
